New brochure - Surrey's post-16 education opportunities

  • 30-11-2011

"For all young people, finishing compulsory schooling can be a time of change and uncertainty. The transition out of school can be even harder for young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. However, it can also be an exciting time, with a variety of pathways available.

One option that many choose is further learning. Surrey Colleges offer a wide range of high-quality supported learning opportunities for young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

These help to develop independence and skills, and provide a chance to prepare for the next step in life.

Surrey County Council has worked in partnership with Surrey Colleges to produce this brochure. It provides an overview of the supported learning programmes that are available in colleges, as well as some of the Council services that can help young people to access learning and employment.

We believe that choosing to attend a local college can lead to a smoother transition from school into further learning and, at the end of the placement, from learning back into the local community . . . "
