o O o O o O o o O o O o O o o O o O o O o PwP Courses and Workshops for parents 2008-09 PwP provides training and workshops for parent/carers and professionals who may find them of interest. Our 2008-09 programme is currently being developed and will include sessions on School Action, School Action Plus, Statements and Annual Reviews, how to communicate effectively in meetings, and school admissions. You can help us, by suggesting any topics you would like us to add to our existing training programme. Please email us your thoughts.
o O o O o O o o O o O o O o o O o O o O o TRANSITION to adult life and services: The Autumn edition of the transition NEXT STEPS Newsletter If you son or daughter has learning difficulties or disabilities and is in Year 8 or above you will find the information in NEXT STEPS of interest. At the beginning of July 2008 we will be holding 2 transition "taster sessions" for parents of children and young people in year 8 who have a Statement of Special Educational Needs. These will be held on 2 July in Guildford and 8 July in Ashtead from 10 am to 12 noon. There will be a further 1/2 day workshop about Transition for parents and carers of young people aged 12 - 19 at the beginning of November. This will include workshops on benefits, wills and trusts, the role of connextion and the role of the social care transition team. o O o O o O o Contact a Family/Parentline Plus Anti-Bullying Project
Contact a Family and Parentline Plus are to produce new guidance for parents/carers of disabled children to help them to cope if their child is being bullied. The researchers want to speak to parents/carers of disabled children about their child's experience of bullying - how you spotted the signs, which stategies you used to deal with the bullying and how successful they were, how you coped with the situation and any advice you would like to give to other parents in a similar situation.
