Childcare support extended to 80,000 more families

At the moment parents on low incomes who work a minimum of 16 hours a week, may be eligible to claim up to 70% of their registered childcare costs through the childcare element of

working tax credit. However under new government plans the minimum amount of working hours will be scrapped to enable more parents to return to the workplace. This change will take place in 2013, will coincide with the introduction of the new universal credit and should offer childcare support for an additional 80,000 families.
