South East SEN Pathfinder Update
As you may know, Surrey has been selected to test out some of the proposals in the Government's SEN and Disability Green Paper, as part of the SE7 partnership.
These include:
- A single education, health and care plan from birth to 25 years old, to replace the statement of SEN.
- Personal budgets for parents of disabled children and those with SEN
- Improved commissioning, particularly through links to health reforms
- The role of voluntary and community sector organisations and parents in a new system
As a parent or professional, you are likely to have many questions about these proposals . . .
-
Will your child have to participate in the pathfinder, or can you choose to continue with a Statement . . . ?
- Will Personal Budgets become compulsory in 2014 . . . ?
- Will the family / carers' needs be taken into consideration or will carers still have to apply for a separate carer’s assessment . . . ?
- If statements are replaced by Single Plans, who will enforce them . . . ?
- Will the Single Plan be re-assessed annually like statements . . . ?
Find out the answer to all these questions and more on the new SE7 SEN Pathfinder website.
